Gurugram: As part of its continued commitment to advancing specialised eye care, the Fortis Gurugram Eye Institute at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) has launched a dedicated Ocular Oncology Clinic - a first-of-its-kind specialised unit offering comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for eye cancers and ocular tumors in both adults and children.
This launch marks a major advancement in the region’s eye-care landscape, bringing together under one roof a robust ecosystem of sub-specialists, cutting-edge technology, and internationally benchmarked treatment protocols to address the full spectrum of ocular oncology with precision and compassion.
Eye cancers, though relatively rare, can progress rapidly and can pose serious threats to both vision and life when not detected early. Tumours such as retinoblastoma, uveal melanoma, conjunctival and orbital cancers, and metastatic eye lesions require extremely specialised and coordinated care - a critical gap the new clinic aims to bridge decisively. With its launch, Fortis Eye Institute now offers early detection, precision-based therapies, advanced surgeries, and holistic rehabilitation through a single, seamlessly integrated platform.
The clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team of ocular oncologists, ocular pathologists, vitreoretinal and oculoplastic surgeons, pediatric oncologists, and radiation and medical oncology experts. This collaborative model ensures every patient receives highly personalised, evidence- backed treatment tailored to the unique clinical complexity.
Strengthening its clinical capabilities, the Centre offers advanced treatment modalities such as Targeted Radiation Plaque Therapy and Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy, alongside state-of-the-art imaging, diagnostics, ocular reconstruction, and long-term follow-up care.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Parul M Sharma, Principal Director & HOD, Fortis Eye Institute, said, “The Ocular Oncology Clinic represents a major leap in our commitment to deliver comprehensive and compassionate eye care. Eye cancers often remain undiagnosed until advanced stages due to a lack of awareness. Our goal is to change that by enabling early detection, precise treatment, and dramatically better visual and survival outcomes for our patients.”
Mr Yash Rawat, SBU Head & Facility Director, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, said, “The launch of the Ocular Oncology Clinic reflects our commitment to bringing advanced, highly specialised eye cancer care closer to the community. At FMRI, our focus has always been to combine cutting-edge technology with deep clinical expertise to deliver the best possible outcomes. This specialised unit strengthens our ability to detect eye cancers early, intervene with precision, and support patients and families through every step of their treatment journey.”
