5-Month-Old Baby Airlifted to Bengaluru for Cardiac Care

A five-month-old infant diagnosed with a critical heart condition was airlifted from Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain to Bengaluru on Tuesday under the state government's 'PM Shri Air Ambulance Service' for advanced medical treatment, officials said.

The baby, identified as Yatharth Singh Ranawat from Sanoria village in Ujjain district, was transported from Indore to Narayana Hospital in Bengaluru after doctors recommended urgent specialised cardiac treatment.

Sharing the update, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the entire cost of the child's treatment would be covered by the state government under the Ayushman Niramay Yojana.

“We pray to God for his speedy and complete recovery so that happiness returns to the family,” the Chief Minister said.

He further stated, “The life of every citizen is invaluable. We are committed to saving every life at any cost.”

According to officials, doctors in Madhya Pradesh initially examined the infant and advised immediate transfer to a super-speciality hospital due to the seriousness of the heart ailment.

Given the critical condition of the child, the state government arranged an air ambulance for quick transportation to Bengaluru, where advanced paediatric cardiac care facilities are available.

The PM Shri Air Ambulance Service was launched by the Madhya Pradesh government in May 2024 to provide rapid medical transportation for critically ill patients requiring urgent treatment.

The service is intended to help patients affected by road accidents, industrial mishaps, natural disasters, and life-threatening illnesses who need immediate access to advanced healthcare facilities within or outside the state.

Under the scheme, Ayushman card holders can avail free air ambulance services to government hospitals and empanelled Ayushman healthcare institutions.

For patients without Ayushman cards, free transportation is available to government hospitals within Madhya Pradesh, while fixed charges apply for treatment at hospitals outside the state.

Yatharth’s family expressed gratitude to the state government for the timely support, stating that arranging a private air ambulance was financially impossible for them.
